Claire Delbecq grew up in Bellingham, Washington where she developed an appreciation for evergreen forests and rain. Heading south to Seattle, she attended the University of Washington where she received her B.S. in Biochemistry and Neurobiology. After graduating, she moved through a variety of jobs ranging from outdoor education to habitat restoration and trail work. Her transition to Southeast Alaska in 2017 opened the door for two seasons working with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game, experiences that made her excited to pursue a M.S. in Fisheries through UAF. Her current research project focuses on how climate change is shifting patterns of flow in streams and how those changes in flow impact freshwater food webs. Outside of school, Claire enjoys learning new ways to experience the landscape, which most recently includes foraging, fly fishing, and skiing.
